Opera mini 3.0 is released

And sadly, it doesn't quite work right on my Dash. I can install it, and it works OK after the first launch of it. However, when I shut it down and try to restart it Opera will not launch. It just hangs. I removed and reinstalled it, and it bombed again on the second launch.

Even when it did work, I couldn't logon to beta.blogger.com with my gmail account (it just returns to the logon page when you submit the credentials). The left soft key didn't work right either so I had to use the "Q" key launch the menu. Fun.

The Choke Point

I call this the "Choke Point," which is part of my Brown Canyon loop ride here in AZ. You come racing down the canyon and come across this boulder. The best line that I have found is not necessarily the first one you would think of. I guess that goes for a lot of things, eh?

colossal cave trail ride.

This was a copy of ride at colossal cave that Jon and I went on a couple weekends ago. Mostly new trail over the last two years.

Blogging from the phone

Anybody know how to blog with a T-Mobile Dash (HTC S620/Excalibur)? Pocket IE will not let me logon to www.blogger.com, and I can't get the site work with Opera Mini either (low memory version). I am now looking for blogging apps so I can actually start filling this thing out. Since I have stuff on my Flickr site, and more with the new camera on the Dash, I would like to keep this thing updated more often.

Windows Vista Ultimate is trick

I loaded Windows Vista Ultimate about a week ago, and I've been using it a ton on my work laptop (Dell D610). I was on the Vista TAP and did a ton of work and debugging on Vista BDD, which will be supremely cool when it's out, that working with the final OS is interesting. You see all the weird things being phased out, while other things you loved did manage to stay (check out the very custom power management settings). The best part, however, is that the OS is much faster than when it was in beta, and a bit faster than in RC. Also, Sidebar is not annoying nor painfully slow. Another bright spot is that it can suspend and hibernate repeatedly with little issue. Now, for something I didn't think I would say, I like IE7. It's nice, fast, and handles tons of tabs with no hiccups.

One "gotcha" is to make sure to run certain apps as Administrator (right click on it and select "Run as Administrator") when it needs elevated credentials. I tried to use an ISO mounting utility with Vista Ultimate RTM, and I couldn't get it to actually mount the ISO. It would claim to, and read the sectors and other stats, but would never create the drive letter. I might try again later. If you find this blog and know how to make it work, let me know. I will probably put Nero on here anyway and will just use the ISO mounter in that, but it would still be nice for work.

New phone!

Alright, so I got this new T-Mobile Dash phone and it kicks ass. I've had it for two weeks now and it's sweet. So, while I might not keep my MVP status due to tons of public activity (all internal stuff at work taking up my time, that and losing a bunch of weight with all my cycling) but I might pick it up again with Windows Mobile devices. Who knows?

http://www.sbsh.net/ - Nice plugins, but "Facade" is great. I'm testing that right now, and dig the tabs.
